Only the third school established in the Los Angeles Archdiocese, Saint Mary’s, a transitional kindergarten through 8th grades school, first opened in 1907. Its mission is to educate the youth academically and spiritually in the Catholic, Salesian tradition of Reason, Religion, and Loving Kindness. In addition to its faith-based foundation, it also focuses on guiding “…the young to acquire the basic tools needed to continue their education and to lay the foundation for a useful, productive life,” as reflected in the core subjects it teaches. Saint Mary has a faith-filled education environment; strong academic standards; dedicated and caring teachers and staff; full-day kindergarten; after school day care; opportunities for Christian services; an up to date technology program; and various extra-curricular activities including sports, student council, ballet folklorico, guitar lessons, drill team, yearbook and aafter school tutoring program.
